The classical strategy theory implies that we should set an aspirational goal and find a path to it. Hence, strategy is a means to an end.
I don’t claim the theory is wrong, though statistics show this avenue isn’t that promising. For instance, only 2% of leaders are confident they will achieve 80–100% of their strategic objectives. Most strategies fail, and we should consider changing our approach to long-term thinking.
And the fact that we live in a world filled with mediocre products and pathetic services is the best proof of that.
