I definitely agree with identifying a problem to solve and building a company or product around it verses focusing on your own internal goals and hoping it connects to a problem or need.
If you watch Shark Tank you’ll see people that are frustrated with something and created a solution for it. You’ll also see people that are just chasing money. It’s usually obvious who is who.
The best politicians are those that are fed up and stepping in to create change vs those trying to become professional politicians and falling in line with the bureaucracy.
