I agree with you. Success means satisfying the customer, which leads to other good things like growth, profit, and sustainability.

The problem is that others define success differently. They want fast growth based on hype to sell out. They want to go public and rake in the cash. As a result they measure financials and hire someone with a finance background to run things.
