This is exactly what happens when people are pressured to sell, especially when financial incentives and fear of underperformance are involved. When the drive for profit takes precedence over human decency and legal compliance, these kinds of unethical outcomes are inevitable.

We often view profit as a goal, while it is merely a result of achieving other goals

I agree - but for some money becomes the goal at all costs. And that's where the problem begins.

I like the six groups waving value to and from the company. That old Danish proverb is quite disturbing, though. But probably I am missing something.
